I just came across the legendary synth manufacturer EMS via Matrixsynth. Go to the history or products section of this website and check out many, many breathtaking photographs.
I really liked their logo, it reminded me of early swiss graphic design, but what I think is most charming is the clumsy and dilettantish feel it has:

Anyway, I then found a flickr photo set featuring several shots of one of the EMS synthis. I immediately fell in love with a manual that looks like this:

This is The Synthi Educational Handbook and you can find a scanned version of this 1972 masterpiece here (PDF file). It’s all written with a typewriter and has many great technical illustrations that look pretty much like that:
