Gerhard Richter should start a flickr account.

I remember spending hours in Gerhard Richter’s ‘Atlas’ installation at the documenta X 1997 in kassel. This installation showcased his extensive library of photographs and pictorial sketches that he collected and still is collecting since the early 60s and that he is using as sources for his work. Last week i discovered his new monumental book that archives most of these 5000 pictures grouped together on 730 seperate panels. Atlas is an intimate diary as well as an encyclopedic archive and includes photographs of family and friends, concentration camps, pornography, cityscapes, flowers, news photographs, etc., as well as sketches and fragments of paintings. Nice chrismas present for flickr freaks by the way! :-)
